Description
... otherwise the Stage1 bootloader fails (oddly it does not give the error "haiku_loader not found" but rather "failed to load os").
Tried just now and indeed it's impossible to install/run the latest nightlies with the old makebootable like I had done before.
And the new build of makebootable then needs uploading to haiku-files to replace the old one at the URL mentionned here
hrev46284 but regression probably occured a few days ago when the loader was renamed to haiku_loader-r1~alpha4_pm_hrev46284-1-x86_gcc2.hpkg
.
BTW a workaround is of course to rename the file back to its previous name haiku_loader.hpkg
, from another partition that does boot up, that got me going on that new rev.

Oh right, that's one for Matt Madia et al, the website's one differs from the udpated build indeed:
~/Desktop> wget http://www.haiku-files.org/unsupported-builds/package-management-preview/makebootable.zip --2013-10-26 15:10:05-- http://www.haiku-files.org/unsupported-builds/package-management-preview/makebootable.zip Resolving www.haiku-files.org... 75.119.196.159 (..) ~/Desktop> unzip makebootable.zip Archive: makebootable.zip inflating: makebootable ~/Desktop> cksum makebootable 1289023875 24226 makebootable ~/Desktop> cksum /bin/makebootable 3841217257 24226 /bin/makebootable
I'll update my boot sectors right now to be good to go for future upgrades as well.

Just heard that Pete Goodeve was bitten by that one.. My two cents is that this should be assigned to/fixed before the alpha5 milestone. Granted not everyone will need to run makebootable by hand so this is probably not a release "blocker".. But those that do need it, will be grateful if the online downloadable file is correct :-) It's just one file to update on the website folks!

The new
makebootable
is included in the haiku package. You can extract it via
