Could this be somehow related to the process described by mmlr in the hrev49058 commit?

Hard to tell, there is not enough info available in the on-screen message (you need to use the save_report command there and attach the file that gets saved to the desktop). If you can't reproduce this we can assume it was this problem, and close the ticket.

That's an input_server crash, not a KDL.
