    11@Pulkomandy - Ok, I finally blamed my newer monitor in the end. The monitor in question is a HDTV/TV monitor versus my original "non TV" 1080p monitor (my original Y2010 test monitor which worked fine at 1920x1080 screen resolution w/radeon_hd driver). I'm checking on a firmware fix/upgrade for the monitor. This monitor does display the 1920x1080 resolution but something the radeon_hd driver does triggers this monitor to stop displaying the screen and never shows it again after the splash screen disappears.
    2 I do the exact same test with the VESA driver and it works fine everytime. Go figure.
