    1 Tracker should do it like both caja and Thunar do under Linux for non BeFS filesystems and create thumbnails in a hidden folder within the users home dir.

    33You say this feature is BeFS only but it does actually work a bit already for files stored on FAT32 but only for a few files so that is a bit of an odd bug.
