Description

This is the first time Haiku has booted to the desktop on this homemade PC. WiFi does not currently work, it is not shown in Network preferences. Wired ethernet does work. This is under hrev56010 x86_64. I'll attach listdev and syslog for reference. Please let me know what other info would be helpful for diagnostics.

device Network controller [2|80|0]

Probably an "iwx" device.

Replying to korli: lshw_clip.txt from this machine under Linux Mint. Closest I see (not an expert!!) is line 9579 from source you linked to.

ScottPuopolo, you may want to read the discussion in ticket #16970. It has a bit of bad news about "iwx" devices.

comment:7 by ScottPuopolo, 3 years ago

Well, I wouldn't call it bad news per se, just a need to decide on OpenBSD vs FreeBSD for drivers. Sounds wise to support both compat layers if possible in the near term to get the best of both new and older drivers. I have reconfigured my house to run ethernet cables to needed devices so I can continue using Haiku.

Sorry, just recognized I filed this concerning the wrong component/driver. Moving…

The wlan_control message is spurious. Your device is supported by a different driver, the idualwifi7260 driver.

comment:11 by waddlesplash, 3 years ago

ScottPuopolo: Please check with a recent nightly and see if this device works now.

Milestone: UnscheduledR1/beta4
Resolution: fixed
Status: newclosed

Presuming fixed, a new ticket can be opened if the driver has problems, but the device is supported theoretically.

I just tried hrev 56213 on my computer. It made it past the loading icons but crashed before the desktop appeared. I've attached a screenshot (kdl.jpg). Let me know if more info is needed.

This is the same as #17811.

comment:15 by ScottPuopolo, 2 years ago

Perhaps, but I don't believe my machine has that hardware.

That bug also applies to the driver for your hardware.

Latest update: I can see the wifi in Network Preferences, I can see the various SSID's available. If I try to connect to one, I don't see any change in state (stays disconnected). But hey, there's progress!!! Tried on hrev56449.

As mentioned in other tickets you will need to upgrade your wpa_supplicant package (to at least version "2.10.haiku.2").

comment:19 by ScottPuopolo, 2 years ago

Performed pkgman full-sync on hrev 56449, which brought it to 56450. This upgraded wpa_supplicant to 2.10.haiku.2 . WiFi is now working on this install! Link speed is 802.11ac.

Note: See TracTickets for help on using tickets.
