Just a quick note: Dirac encoding and decoding are supported in ffmpeg through external library libschroedinger (​http://www.ffmpeg.org/general.html, 2.3 Video Codecs). So it would be possible get Dirac support through our ffmpeg media plugin.

UPDATE: As of version 0.9 ffmpeg has native Dirac decoder and only for encoding it uses external library libschroedinger. Haiku ffmpeg media plugin uses >0.9 ffmpeg libraries, so i tried few sample files from link in ticket - they plays nicely.

Seems we allready have Dirac decoding support.
