Description

The Printers preflet should allow to print a test page.

I started working on a actual test page if thats OK with you. I will attach it as a png onces its finished.

Of course that is OK.

What I have in mind is showing the page margin. Some example text in various font sizes and some gradient color bars in grey, red, green, blue, cyan. Maybe some line patterns (horizontal, vertical, diagonal, in different line sizes), and maybe some information about the used printer driver and transport add-on.

I will add soon a skeleton test page feature, which could be enhanced later to show more info, using more colors, lines, images and fonts for features & patterns check by the user. When you guys will comes with a mockup of one.

It was not that *soon*, but a first working test page feature is available since hrev40251. Unfortunatly, the RGB & CMYK gradients are not visible on output due to a bug in BPicture regarding gradients...

The underlying problem really needs to be fixed at some point. Either that, or provide a PDF printer test page in the meantime such as in the PDF attachment provided (testfile.pdf)

This feature of Haiku has not ever been in a working state as far as I know. Now that we're on the verge of our first Beta release, wouldn't now be a good time to fix this and related bug #9680?

Well, this is fixed as there is a test page at least. The fact that there are no gradients displayed is indeed #9860, a separate issue.
