What revision? What GCC flavour? Nightly or home brewed? Anyboot or raw?

The latter part is the most interesting question here. Some BIOSes are a bit more picky about the structure of devices they'll boot from, so it may be a case of it rejecting e.g. a partition without a proper MBR. If that's the case, and the image being written to the usb stick is raw, then trying anyboot instead may indeed deal with it here.

Last revision, I try both gcc2 and gcc4. I get raw-image nightly and wrote it via https://launchpad.net/win32-image-writer and also via "dd" from linux.

Okay, just tried anyboot, now I can see boot screen, but no one icon flashed.

Apparently your BIOS is picky about what it'll recognize as bootable then. That part at least isn't a Haiku problem. As far as the boot loader hanging though, does disabling ACPI and/or SMP make a difference?

Are you by any chance able to grab a syslog with those options, as described in ReportingBugs?

comment:9 by HaikuBot, 13 years ago

No, after unsuccessful booting, I haven't menu entries "Display syslog from previous session" and "Save syslog from previous session" in Debug menu.

Without more information, looks like possibly a PCI problem.

Have you tested to pick all the settings in the safe mode window?

Sure. Here hrev44510: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Y4Af_Ed2pYs&hd=1 (without "onscreendebug enable", I got only first 3 flashed icons).

Here new output that I got on hrev44555: This one I got when activate only first line in "safe mode options" (i.e. Safe Mode). And onscreendebug + disable pagining in debug option.

This One I got when activate all option in "safe mode options". And onscreendebug + disable pagining in debug option.

One thing you might try is to remove the hard drive from that computer and use a different computer to install Haiku onto that harddrive and then put it back into the machine you took it from. I have a laptop that I'm going to try the same thing with as it has issues booting from CD and USB.

Hi, Any update on this during the last two years?

Hey. Will test tomorrow.

HaikuBot: Any results? If you have been unable to test, this one will be bumped to the unscheduled milestone.

Thanks!
