IMAP doesn't appear to handle background update checks correctly

Description
The first time I ask MDR to check mail with an IMAP account, it's fine and synchronizes as needed. Any subsequent attempts don't show any indicator of the status bar or anything, and no further new messages are received until I quit/restart the daemon. Like before, this is with IMAP/SSL talking to imap.gmail.com
