Mail - dead link for Inbox and nonfunctionality with Gmail

Description
The mail app seems unable to send or receive messages via Gmail (POP3 or IMAP set-up). I have looked over settings recommended by Google, and it is no dice. On perhaps an unrelated note, clicking the Inbox icon does nothing, presumably because it thinks there's nothing to show?

Googlemail worked almost out of the box with the E-mail preferences' "wizard" using pop3. All I had to change IIRC was in "Incoming" the login type to "Plain Text". (SSL is needed). Since it's definitely working here, I dare to set this ticket to "invalid".
The non-functional "Inbox" icon was removed after the alpha. You may want to consider trying a more recent nightly build.
