#10193 new bug

HDA: no sound out of front headphones

Reported by: MichaelPeppers Owned by: korli
Priority: normal Milestone: Unscheduled
Component: Drivers/Audio/HDA Version: R1/Development
Keywords: hda front speaker Cc:
Blocked By: Blocking:
Platform: All

Description

In hrev46335 (I'm quite sure this worked way before this revision) no sound comes out of the front speaker channel no matter how much I tinker with the system mixer, the front mic is probably affected too but I didn't check. Main channels (the ones in the back, directly connected to the motherboard/integrated audio chip) work fine. The sound card is an integrated Nvidia HDA chip.

The only recent change to HDA was in hrev46327, so it'd be interesting to know if a revision before that works. Also, a syslog from the failing revision would be helpful.

Well, last time I installed Haiku it was before Alpga 4 iirc, since my only usable usb stick is refusing to boot any Haiku image I throw at it (guess I dd'ed on it way too much for its own good) and... I'm not a programmer but the changes in hrev46327 don't look like they should affect the coded in this way, so I think it's broken down before that.

Heh, totally forgot about syslogs, I'll post one asap.

I kept only the HDA-related part in the syslog I just attached as the rest of it looks superfluous in this case. And here's the listdev output:

  vendor 10de: NVIDIA Corporation
device 03f0: MCP61 High Definition Audio

Is it about front speakers or front headphones? Your bug title and description differ.

Replying to korli:

It's the front output channel on a standard desktop PC, where you can attach either headphones or speakers. Sorry if I was unclear about that.

Same issue is occuring to me, nVidia MPC73, 0x07fc is the ID.

Prior to the recent changes (I was running an extremely late pre-PM build, can't remember the ID), the front port would work. Now it doesn't and only the rear port does. hrev46357

Milestone: R1/beta2Unscheduled

Removing HDA audio tickets from Beta2 milestone, no one has worked on it and opensound is available at least as a stopgap.
