That device ID is actually listed in the Intel extreme driver. Please provide a syslog.

May I ask how you're deciding that vesa is in use? That syslog appears to indicate that the Intel driver does in fact find and initialize the card, and even detects the monitor's edid/resolution info.

Adding mmlr to cc list since if memory serves he handled IronLake support.

If I simply let the system boot without selecting fail safe graphics first all I get is a black screen. If you can suggest a series of tests, I'll try to get you better information.

I added the Haswell support, but all I really did was adding the PCI IDs for it. On my machine this is enough to get HDMI output working, but VGA does not work and I have not tested DVI. So there are probably some more changes to mae to get more complete support.

This particular PC only has VGA, which is not working. In the meantime, I'll use a Radeon card.

Is it possibly a similar issue as #11268? Have you tried booting in VESA mode, open the Screen prefs, and pressing "Apply". Apparently this creates ~/config/settings/system/app_server/workspaces. When this file is present, my intel extreme boots up OK. If I delete that file, I get a distorted picture.

Replying to humdinger:

I tried as you suggested, and verified that the workspaces file existed. After reboot, same problem - Haiku icons all light, then blackness.
