     5'''Edit''': while inspecting one of the concerned systems, found a script that recursively calls itself (!).. So presumably creating a new /bin/bash instance every time and never letting go of anything. 6 times an hour equals 140+ times a day, I'm guessing that could cause trouble over a few days *g*.. Anyway replaced the self-call with a proper infinite loop.
