    992- Let's say you have 5 and they are collapsed, you must close them (after supposedly reading them) to gain back that screen real estate.  If you don't have a show/hide feature that forces the user to close them to get that space back.  If you do have a show/hide feature (the user doesn't want to read them right now), you are again adding more clicks for the user to be able to read them.

     11Personally I would rather have the center hidden and a show/hide icon in the deskbar and have all notifications initially viewable.  However maybe someone else would want the notification center initially shown with new notifications collapsed into the header?  And also have the hide/show option?  That could probably be a setting preference.
