    v2 v3
1 @Pulkomandy - Ok, I finally blamed my newer monitor in the end. The monitor in question is a HDTV/TV monitor versus my original "non TV" 1080p monitor (my original Y2010 test monitor which worked fine at 1920x1080 screen resolution w/radeon_hd driver). I'm checking on a firmware fix/upgrade for the monitor. This monitor does display the 1920x1080 resolution but something the radeon_hd driver does triggers this monitor (and the Radeon HD 4350) to stop displaying the screen and never shows it again after the splash screen disappears. I do the exact same test with the VESA driver and everything works fine everytime. Go figure. With the radeon_hd driver, I tried various lower screen resolutions from the boot debug menu but all ended with the same issue. I'll blame the monitor for this round, but suspect the radeon_hd driver.
1@Pulkomandy - Both the intel_extreme and the radeon_hd driver trigger my HDTV monitor to stop displaying the screen and never shows it again after the Haiku splash screen disappears. 3 NOTE: The intel_extreme driver has the same issue on my standard 1600x1200 monitor. It'll generate a black screen right after the Haiku splash screen. Using VESA driver, it'll work fine. I can even display both 1600x1200 and 1920x1440 screen resolution with the VESA driver using my Intel IGP (PCI ID: 8086:0042) using screen preferences.
3I saw a message for 'init_accelerant' and 'cloned area' which seems the way these drivers must use and manage data between VBIOS/VRAM and the kernel.
