    4444EDIT: to clarify the chronology, the syslog differences above occured, obviously, at boot-up time; i.e. already at boot-up time, Haiku decided to use DMA snooping ..etc (whatever that is). Then I did some qemu fiddling for 2 hours. Then I launched MediaPlayer, and got audio output. Anyway will try different cold boot combinations each morning when I switch this computer on.

    4848- day 2: cold boot R1/b1 x64; launch MediaPlayer after uptime of 50 s. => no audio
     49- day 2, checked again after **1h40** uptime: audio works! (nice easter egg in the Haiku About Box when left open BTW)
