Description
Trying to boot Haiku x86-64 nightly 53701 on a ThinkPad P50 fails, with the bootloader reporting it does not find any partitions in UEFI mode.
If I change to legacy/BIOS mode, I get the Haiku logo with the icons below it, but none of the icons light up and the system hangs.
Boot media is a USB 3 thumb drive, with anyboot image written via dd in Linux.
Laptop configuration: Lenovo ThinkPad P50, i7-6700HQ, 64gb RAM, NVIDIA Quadro M1000M/Intel HD 530, 512gb NVMe, 256gb NVMe disks

with the bootloader reporting it does not find any partitions in UEFI mode.
Actually -- do you mean that you get "PANIC: no boot partitions", or do you get "Cannot continue booting (...)"? If the former, then a USB2 drive/port should help; if the latter, this is a recent regression in the EFI loader (#15587.)

Unfortunately, this laptop is USB 3.0 ports only and one Thunderbolt 2 port. I did try a USB 1.0 thumb drive in the USB 3.0 port, however, with the same results.
I'll attach screenshots of the bootloader in UEFI mode. The exact text is "Cannot continue booting (Boot volume is not valid) and the "Select boot volume" list is empty.

Based on that other defect, I tried booting off rev 53644, but I made it to the Haiku screen but it froze afterwards (just like booting without UEFI), see IMG_0109.JPEG (attached)

On my MacBook Pro haiku_loader.efi hangs on boot sometimes (1/5 times) with no icons lit. Maybe try a few more times?
I've also tried the R1/beta image, and it nets the behavior of legacy/BIOS above.
