A compatibility page on the wiki or elsewhere would be useful, that tracks compatibility to Linux software/frameworks.

Most of your text fits better into the forum. I boiled it down.
Personally, I'd close the ticket, as I don't see it as a chore the Haiku project should take on. 3rd parties provide linux compatible software, they should try keeping a list on it uptodate. From a marketing standpoint, IMO it suffices to mention the few Big Ones, like Qt, KDE, LibreOffice etc.
Note:
See TracTickets
for help on using tickets.
You will have to try the programms for yourself! Ffmpeg and imagemagic is there. There might a ruby port somewhere.. But not stable... For questions about Haiku software ask in the #haiku IRC channel or on the community websit... https://depot.haiku-os.org/#!/?bcguid=bc17-IUHX&repos=haikuports&arch=x86_gcc2&viewcrttyp=MOSTRECENT&srchexpr=Magic
