#17416 assigned bug

No graphics output with Radeon RX 480

Description

Hi,

using my "Sapphire Nitro+ Radeon RX 480 8G D5 OC, 1342MHz, 8GB GDDR5, DVI, 2x HDMI, 2x DP" I have no graphics output with nightly Haiku.

Seems like radeon accelerant is loaded and tries to use 4k resolution as my monitor is 4k.

The screen turns white for a moment and then goes black.

If you need anything please ask for more information.

I don't think the "radeon" driver supports such a new device. Maybe the radeonhd does?

Ok. Then it might be radeon_hd. I can try to provide a syslog later today.

Correct. The RX 480 is radeon_hd. I actually have an RX 480... I don't remember if I disable radeon_hd for daily use or not.

To work around the bug for now, you can also use the fallback video driver: https://www.haiku-os.org/docs/userguide/en/bootloader.html#troubleshooting

There's no 2d/3d hardware acceleration in Haiku even when using drivers, so you likely won't see much difference on modern cards beyond the availability of additional (non-standard) graphics modes.

I am currently using fail-safe graphics driver. However. I tend to use 2.5k with my monitor but cant select this mode when selecting fail safe video modes.

But it is near for this hardware.
