When booting, the icons display and light up, then display goes blank. After a few seconds, the monitor displays "no input"

This started around hrev55674

hrev55671 boots to desktop

Fail-safe video mode works ok

Maybe a hint at Line 135 of syslog: KERN: intel_extreme: bad VBT signature: (garbage)

Also, Screen preferences shows nan Hz. Older hrevs showed 60 Hz.
