I tried to install Haiku in my old PC. I couldn't. The steps was,

a) I used the Haiku's CD
b) First, I mounted my HDD. I couldn't unmount it neither format it.
c) First reboot. I formatted my HDD and installation started. It freezed in archive 207.
d) 2nd reboot. I repeat all the operation and installation freezed in archive number 129.
e) 3rd reboot. I could to install it. I was moving mouse all time to avoid freeze.
f) I start Haiku. Icons start to get color but it freezes in 'chip' icon.
g) New reboot. I can start Haiku without any problem.
h) I switch on the PC later and again, system freezes when 'chip' icon is getting color (2 times more) or in 'rocket' icon (2 times).
i) I install Windows XP and all goes perfect only in 1 attempt.

PC:

—Mainboard DFI AK76 SN Rev B
—RAM: PC-2100-CL 2.5 DDR 266 (2 of 1 Gb each one)
—HDD: Seagate Barracuda 7200, 10 (160 Gb IDE)
—Graphics: NVidia 64
—Processor: AMD Athlon XP 1500+ (32 bits)
—BIOS: Award Modular 6.00 PG (last update 04/03/2002)
—Mouse and keyboard used in integrated USB 2.0
—Network: https://approx.es/producto/apppci1000v2/ (not important. If I remove this PCI, problem goes on).

In Live mode I can use/see Haiku without errors.

I am not programmer. I don't know if you need more info. If so, say it to me. And congrats. I love Haiku, but... I cannot use it :o/

Summary: Impossible to install HaikuOSRandom freezes during install

There are two issues here:

  • freeze during installation
  • freeze during boot (possibly the same as #17365)

For the first problem try to enter KDL after such freeze by pressing Alt+Print screen+d and type syslog | tail 25. Take a photo and attach it here.
