Apparently Alt+SysRq+D drops one to kdl but is not documented.
It should be included in https://www.haiku-os.org/guides/troubleshooting/ and https://www.haiku-os.org/docs/userguide/en/keyboard-shortcuts.html#general so that when a dev says " drop to kdl and take a backtrace," a newbie can find out how to do just that.

To be honest, you can find it here, as well as syslog location and other things. It is the first link in troubleshooting guide but I guess that is not easy enough to find for shy newbies.
