Description
This is hrev40682, gcc4hybrid.
Recently I noticed that if I right click on desktop and immediately left click on other empty part of desktop, context menu won't close.
But if I right click and wait 1-2 before left click context menu closes as expected.
Using binary search I've tracked it down to hrev40306.

Hah... that's much the feeling I get with many of my tickets! (:-)) No action or response at all... Anyway,
I now realize the reason for your problem. The PopupMenu code now uses the 'double-click speed' setting to decide whether the button was a 'click' or a 'press'. With normal popup menus, this only applies to the invoking button-press, but it seems the Tracker is a bit non-standard (possibly because popups didn't work properly before?): it apparently takes a second click occurring within the double-click-time as part of the initial action, and treats it as a 'stay-up' request. (This doesn't happen with other menus using the standard Go().)
I don't see the problem because I have the double-click set to maybe 1/2 sec, so a second click is always outside the critical period unless I really want a double. Unless you really need a long setting, try moving the slider in the Mouse preflet to about halfway and see if it cures your problem.

Ok, this issue goes away if I move the Double-click speed slider in the Mouse preflet to the middle of the last (to the right) segment. But still it should just work with default settings. Could you fix this?

Mmm? There are no 'segments' in the preflet here! What rev are you using? And if I reset to the defaults, the slider is in the middle, and timing is just right for the normal behaviour.
Maybe timing is different in VirtualBox?
Probably the correct solution is to fix Tracker to match other popup menus (where the problem doesn't exist).

Err, sorry, I was talking about marks not 'segments'. I use hrev41271 with default settings (i.e. the slider is in the middle) and the behaviour is not not ok. I'll try it on real hw and will let you know.

On real hardware it is reproducible much less often, somewhere around 20%. I noticed another problem when context menu of right clicked folders stays open after fast click on empty area. Dunno if it's related though.

Interesting... (:-/) I've been using that patch since I made it, and I don't see that behaviour at all. If I (briefly) right-click on the Desktop, the menu opens, but can be closed (as before) by clicking anywhere else. I'm otherwise still mostly hrev40241 -- has the Tracker changed at all since then?
