    22I think I'll proceed like this:
    331. Modify the haikuports recipe to create the global writable link in /home/config/settings
    4 2. Update the midi kit code to look for the synth first in /home/config/settings/synth/system.sf2 and as a fallback
    5 in /system/data/synth/big_synth.sy so that you can replace the system font just by changing the link.

    653. update the modified soundfont and upload it somewhere (haikufiles ?), modify the recipe to point at this new location.
