#10122 assigned enhancement

Indication for read-only folders

Reported by: humdinger Owned by: nobody
Priority: normal Milestone: Unscheduled
Component: Applications/Tracker Version: R1/Development
Keywords: Cc:
Blocked By: Blocking:
Platform: All

Description (last modified by humdinger)

This hrev46250.

Add an overlay of e.g. a small pad-lock to indicate read-only folders. Choose the upper or lower right side of the icon so it won't collide with the already existing overlay for special folders (apps, preferences, develop etc.).

Having (another) overlay icon may become a bit intrusive, esp. when all subfolders in a directory gets one. Instead, a tinted folder icon and window background may be a better idea.
Query windows are grey tinted, virtual folder could be blue tainted, read-only folders could be orange tinted. (IMO orange tinted works better than e.g. red. It's also a "Haiku colour".)

When you're in a read-only location, the padlock icon could be placed beside the folder icon at the top right in the menu bar of the Tracker window. No need to add the icon to every single item in that read-only location.

Milestone: R1Unscheduled

Moving Tracker enhancement tickets out of R1 milestone -- Tracker's source code comes from BeOS R5, so it already has all the features it did on R5.
