Description
Since hrev47632, Canna is available as an optional package from HaikuPorts (haikuports/app-i18n/canna).
Note that the HaikuPorts recipe uses sources on GitHub which lack any Haiku commit history, since it was copied as a one-off snapshot. Not sure if there is a way around this, or if it's even worth looking into.

There is still /haiku/data/system/data/Canna remaining, along with the (currently build-breaking) references to canna in /haiku/build/jam/packages/Haiku.

Build is still broken, see line 292 in /haiku/build/jam/packages/Haiku.

There is a way around this, and I can extract the commit history from the Haiku git repo into its own git repo. Would that be worthwhile?
