I thought we only need to credit things that are included in the Haiku package or dependencies of it (in AboutSystem, other parts of the OS are credited in their respective package metadata).

You may very well be right. So, should I close this one along with #11700 and go work on removing outsourced stuff from AboutSystem instead, like VL-Gothic and FreeType?

Well, I don't know, my interpretation is what I said above but other devs may disagree. I'll ask on haiku-dev then.

So, a decision was taken already in https://dev.haiku-os.org/ticket/11015 : we need to put credits there for Haiku dependencies only. While vl-gothic is a dependency (it is the fallback font), DejaVu currently isn't.

Ah, thanks, totally missed that one. While we're at it though, how do we feel about all the B_TRANSLATE'ing of copyright strings in AboutSystem. As these often are required to be displayed as-is, I'm not sure we should take the liberty of translating them at all.
