The S3 driver has nothing to do with the VIA driver (even though VIA now owns S3).

Not to be harsh, but do we care? I know the linux support has been in shambles for years.

That's an argument for it, being better than Linux is one of our goals :D
As for "do we care", well, that's an old ticket, but in principle, yes, if we can still find working hardware. Doesn't seem to be very high priority since nothing happened in 13 years anyway.

At least the driver doesn't start working after having added this ID. However, thanks to Dr. Hartmut Reh, I now own a mainboard with this chipset, so I can work on this.
