Issue is not present when updating x86_gcc2h on these same three PC's. So, only a 64 bit Haiku problem.

comment:3 by vidrep, 7 years ago

Downloaded hrev51257 x86_64 anyboot image. When the installer screen comes up, I have no USB mouse or keyboard functions. As before, this behaviour has been replicated on the same three PC's as listed above.

I have attached a serial log of hrev51259 x86_64 booting, no USB mouse or keyboard functions, and then going into KDL when attempting to shutdown with a single press of the power button.

It happened again with an attempted install of hrev51301 x86_64.

Downloaded hrev51301 x86_64 anyboot image. Burned to a CD.

Downloaded a second hrev51301 x86_64 anyboot image. dd to a USB stick.

Multiple attempts to install to two different PC's using both USB and CD failed with no USB mouse or keyboard functions.

Finally, I was able to install to the HDD using the USB stick. However, after a pkgman update to hrev51303, I again had no USB mouse or keyboard functions after a reboot.

I have attached all of the syslogs associated with this install.

I finally managed to boot to desktop again with mouse and keyboard functions. However, clicking on any item in the deskbar caused a baffling series of KDL's which I escaped with "co" command.

I have attached the syslogs and a Web+ debug report that was generated from this session.

This is getting more fun every time I boot. Attached is the latest KDL. This one was triggered after trying to initiate shutdown by pushing the power on/off button.

Looks like you managed to corrupt BFS by pushing the power off button.

Would be nice if you could boot a 32-bit Haiku and wait for a few mins before collecting syslog. If USB is working and not reporting the same 'reset' a lot then there is a 64 bit problem in USB-stack somewhere.

It happened again today with fresh install of hrev51340 x86_gcc2 and hrev51340 x86_64. I have attached the first boot syslog for each as well as a diff of the sylogs.

Could you redo it with diff - Nuar as the diff is not readable.

comment:16 by pulkomandy, 7 years ago

I don't know if the diff between x86_gcc2 and x86_64 syslogs can be readable anyway. Too much differences everywhere. Manual comparison will be needed.

I tried a different approach this morning:

Format x86_64 partition.

Install hrev51308 x86_64 to partition (working OK)

Pkgman update to hrev51345 x86_64

Reboot x86_64 partition - no USB mouse or keyboard functions

Shutdown system with single push of power on/off button

Boot x86_gcc2h partition

Mount x86_64 partition

Copy syslog (rename to syslog_hrev51308_hrev51345)

Attach to this ticket :)

After switching off the power for the night (as I normally do), I booted the install this morning and everything works normally. I have attached the syslog from todays working boot which you can compare to my non-working boot sylog (syslog_x86_64) attached earlier.

One additional note to add. Last night after a fresh install and the usual no USB mouse or keyboard, I disconnected all USB devices and used a PS2 mouse and keyboard and rebooted. Same thing - no mouse or keyboard functions. So maybe unrelated to USB? This only happens on 64 bit.

comment:20 by vidrep, 7 years ago

There is a pattern emerging with this issue (see comment 18). Last night I did a pkgman update from hrev51346 working) to hrev51349. After rebooting there was no mouse or keyboard. Even after several attempts at a fresh install of hrev51349 it was the same. I then shut off all power to the PC for the night (on power bar). This morning I boot and all is working normally. I have attached yet another syslog from this morning.

Still an issue after XHCI fixes?

comment:22 by vidrep, 7 years ago

I haven't seen this issue lately. Leave the ticket open, and I will follow up with a report in another month or two. I want to be certain.

comment:23 by vidrep, 7 years ago

I have not had this happen again since my last comment 2 months ago. Let's consider the problem fixed and close the ticket.
