#14555 closed bug (invalid)

System freezes after using an application which previously crashed

Description

When an application crashes, in the sense that they generate a crash report, running that application again afterwards will cause the system to choke to death within 10-30 seconds. One of the CPUs will go to 100% use, and the mouse cursor stops responding. Sometimes the keyboard will keep working for a little bit, but trying to start another application will often cause a total freeze of the system, where also Ctrl-Alt-Delete won't do anything.

Restarting the system does not make a difference, nor does trying to run the same system on a different machine. The only way to solve this issue is to first remove and then reinstall the package.

I have currently noticed this problem with git, certutil, and rustc / cargo. To me it looks like a crash might cause some corruption in a package, or might cause something with error catching hooks. Running Haiku with VirtualBox, using an external usb hdd and EFI boot.

I guarantee this is USB disk related.
