Kernel Panic - Crash on boot on Sony Vaio VGN-SR29XN

Description

Trying to install #hrev52378 (x64) on a Sony Vaio VGN-SR29XN I've got a Kernel Panic during booting

  • Boot screen ok, no errors in debug output at this stage
  • Then, a black screen for around 30 seconds. Desktop won't show.
  • Finally, a KDL

I've no way to push a serial output of the KDL screen atm, I'm working on it.

In the meantime, I provide here a shot of the screen. I know it is barely useless, but it's the best I can do now.

KDL panic on Sony Vaio - shot from mobile camera

Forgot to mention it was the first boot from a USB stick, aiming to install to HDD then.

Additional Info

  • The KDL doesn't show everytime. Sometimes, the black screen lasts forever (or at least, for a very long time I)
  • Checking "Use fail-safe video driver" on safe boot options will make the stick bootable
