#14691 closed bug (invalid)

[Panasonic CF-T8] Systems hangs on desktop start

Reported by: maylayhdev Owned by: nobody
Priority: normal Milestone: Unscheduled
Component: - General Version: R1/Development
Keywords: Cc:
Blocked By: Blocking:
Platform: All

Description

Laptop is able to boot with vesa graphics, but locks up immediately after reaching the desktop. The mouse is visible and can be moved briefly. Occasionally the deskbar and icons can be seen. KDL will not open after the system has locked up.

Able to reproduce on another laptop of the same model, ruling out singular hardware issue.

Syslog probably incomplete due to no serial port.

Does the screen actually stop redrawing, or is the mouse/keyboard just broken? Because:

KERN: ps2: devfs_publish_device input/touchpad/ps2/synaptics_1, status = 0x00000000
KERN: ps2: reset failed
KERN: ps2: devfs_publish_device input/mouse/ps2/2, status = 0xffffffff
KERN: ps2: reset failed
KERN: ps2: devfs_publish_device input/mouse/ps2/3, status = 0xffffffff
KERN: ps2: devfs_publish_device input/keyboard/at/0, status = 0x00000000
KERN: Running post install script /boot/system/boot/post-install/fix_openssh_config_paths.sh ...
KERN: Running post install script /boot/system/boot/post-install/sshd_keymaker.sh ...
KERN: ps2: keyboard found
KERN: usb_disk: operation 0x35 failed at the SCSI level
KERN: usb_disk: request_sense: key: 0x05; asc: 0x20; ascq: 0x00; Invalid command operation code

It's possible this is either the PS2 errors or the usb_disk errors. There were a number of fixes to the PS/2 bus as well as some to other areas that might affect this recently, so trying a new nightly and seeing what the syslog is like from that would be helpful.

Hmm, it appears to get slightly farther now. Please try Blacklisting the iprowifi4965 driver and see if you still have the same issue.
