Empty Alerts

Reported by: konrad Owned by: nobody
Priority: normal Milestone: Unscheduled
Component: Applications/Tracker Version: R1/Development
Keywords: Empty Alerts with no buttons Cc:
Blocked By: Blocking:
Platform: All

Description

Since like 2 weeks back I get alot of blocking empty Alerts (often when I shutdown the system) but also when I try to restart Deskbar or Tracker (Tracker is more frequent).

They seem to be totally blocking, I cant even start a new window for Process Controller.

I am on x86_64, Revision 51001

Steps to reproduce:

  1. Via process Controller -> Quit Tracker. During restart it seems to crash and shows an empty blocking Alert.

Doesn't happend if you kill the Team.

You cannot start new applications during this shutdown phase, so it makes sense ProcessController won't open. I don't know why the alert won't appear, though.

The steps to reprocude is not during shutdown phase. It happends 100% of the time when I decice to restart tracker by quit it from ProcessController.

Could it be that it has something to do with custom font?

comment:6 by humdinger, 5 years ago

Can't reproduce with custom fonts and hrev523001, 32bit.

Maybe running "tail -f /var/logs/syslog" in Terminal while quitting Tracker has some info?

Syslog when quitting Tracker

comment:7 by konrad, 5 years ago

Added an image of the syslog when quitting tracker.

Judging from the trace it looks like launch_daemon crashed, possibly trying to restart Tracker. Do you have any 3rd party Tracker add-ons/replicants installed?

The empty window could be a debug_server crash alert.

No.

Does this still happen?
