#15385 new bug
[1002:67DF] No video after booting live image hrev53521
Reported by: | eddmnd | Owned by: | kallisti5 |
---|---|---|---|
Priority: | normal | Milestone: | Unscheduled |
Component: | Drivers/Graphics/radeon_hd | Version: | R1/Development |
Keywords: | Cc: | ||
Blocked By: | Blocking: | ||
Platform: | x86-64 |
Description
Image Used:
hrev53521
Anyboot ISO
AMD64
Booting From:
USB2 port
Hardware List:
CPU = AMD 'Radeon RX580'
GPU = AMD 'Ryzen 1600'
MB = Gigabyte 'AB350M-Gaming 3'
SD = Samsumg 'NVMe SSD 960 EVO M.2'
Monitor = AOC 'E2460SH'
Behavior:
Upon booting the live image, all icons proceed to light up. Afterwards, the screen flashes white then fills with black, and my monitor complains 'Input Not Supported'.
The system does not enter KDL, or at least, I cannot see it do so.
Random Notes (ignore):
I tried the R1/beta1 image when it first released, and entered KDL, so there has been progress (it did not get past fourth icon back then). I did not report that error (sorry) but assume it's fixed now so thank you.
I do not know which category to strictly file this ticket under as I am unsure what's causing it.

Replying to luroh:
By keeping <Shift> pressed during early boot, you may be able to enter the Haiku Boot Loader menu -> Select safe mode options -> Use fail-safe graphics driver (VESA).
I tried holding shift just after selecting to boot the image from my UEFI, pressing shift before selecting the image, and holding both left and right shift both before and after the UEFI screen and nothing seems to happen, it attempts to boot as usual. The caps-lock key on my keyboard lights up when pressed if that means anything.

Hammering <Space> like a madman during early boot is another trick that may or may not let you enter the boot menu. See if you can give that a try.

Replying to luroh: That worked, thank you. After selecting that option I am now booted to the desktop. Unfortunately my mouse is not working (caps-lock light working so not frozen). I am going to try to find other mice I have around. If the other mice work I'll get the system log files posted, would a FAT drive be suitable (gonna copy them to this machine)? Need to go into the attic so may be while

The mouse that did not work was a Razer 'DeathAdder Chroma' (I know, edgy). The mouse I'm using now is a Zowie 'FK1' and it works perfectly. I have attached the syslog through webpositive, as mounting r+w seems to have made my backup drive unrecognisable to my laptop (my own fault, I should've taken the warning more seriously, I just had no other disks around), hopefully it's recoverable.

RX580 doesn't seem to be supported yet, I've got the same problem with the screen, had to resort to VESA boot.
By keeping <Shift> pressed during early boot, you may be able to enter the Haiku Boot Loader menu -> Select safe mode options -> Use fail-safe graphics driver (VESA).
With a bit of luck, you may then be able to find and exfiltrate the previous syslog from /boot/var/log/
