#15563 closed bug (fixed)

[launch_daemon] desktop target won't start

Reported by: diver Owned by: axeld
Priority: normal Milestone: R1/beta4
Component: Servers/launch_daemon Version: R1/Development

Blocked By: Blocking:
Platform: All

Description

hrev53605 x86_64 EFI in VirtualBox 6.1.

I was trying to figure out why Installer's Boot to desktop button didn't do anything when Haiku was booted from ISO image. As i can see this button starts desktop target but for some reason it doesn't work over here. However sending Ctrl+Alt+Del worked and I was able to start Desktop from there.

I then tried to stop desktop target with launch_roster stop desktop and that worked. But launch_roster start desktop didn't. Nothing suspicious at all in syslog.

Starting and stopping other targets works just fine it's just desktop target being stubborn.

Something fishy is going on here. I rebooted about 20 times and sometimes Boot to desktop works and sometimes not. Team monitor shows that no Tracker or Deskbar is running after pressing this button. Since it boots from read-only media I'm not sure what could it be. Ideas anyone?

But launch_roster start desktop didn't.

As can be observed in my Services utility, all jobs in target become disabled after stopping target. Then starting target again, disabled jobs are not started. See #15766.

Possibly fixed with hrev54910. The ticket is still valid though.
