Description

I dont know how long this regression has existed for, but MediaPlayer on my box only plays sound on left speaker (headphone jack). All other applications play proper stereo sound. Tested with both audio only and video (mix) sounds.

tested on hrev54202

PS. gave me a bit of a scare, since I've been testing my video encoder and was trying to debug the encoder, when all along the issue is was with MediaPlayer.

I've tested a fresh Haiku image (USB3) and MediaPlayer works fine (stereo) on the same hardware. So the issue is with some MediaPlayer configuration / settings on my SSD which I cannot identify. I've tried deleting ~/config/settings/MediaPlayer* and even ~/config/settings/Media, and rebooting and still no change. Updated to hrev54229+3 and still no change.

To repeat the original issue, MediaPlayer plays sound on only left speaker (no stereo). All other applications play proper stereo sound (StreamRadio, QMPlay2, QMMP, Web+). I've tried deleting all settings I could find, but without success.

Any other settings I should try?

Fixed the issue using Cortex, which showed that MediaPlayer output had right channel Gain set to zero. Interestingly, from Media preferences I cannot adjust gain for individual channel. But Cortex allowed me to tweak the mixer settings. Bizarre.

Safe to close the issue.
