Upon booting from a cold start, the Haiku logo and icons appear. After all of the icons are lit up, the screen flashes white, blue (default), and then back to the black screen with Haiku logo and icons... only for less than a second, but then the desktop appears.

A have similar problem with Acer W500, but second boot splash is corrupted. Maybe video memory is not cleared when switching from VESA to native video driver.

My ASUS F5SL laptop shows the same issue. It is using the radeon_hd driver. The graphics card identifies as "Radeon HD 3470 (RV620)". The desktop doesn't turn blue before the distorted screen.
Maybe this is due to a different screen resolution in VESA mode. I think there it uses 1024x768. The native resolution is 1280x800.
Can you attach your syslog and record a video of what's going on? Also what is you graphics card?
