Description
Sometime since Beta 1, when you make any kind of area selection in ArtPaint, instead of getting the area outlined with a dotted line, the whole area goes black (or sometimes white). If you can't see what you're doing, it's almost impossible to use the feature.
ArtPaint itself hasn't been changed in that period, and has always done the expected job, so this must be that something has changed in Haiku itself. Humdinger suggests that it might be here:
https://git.haiku-os.org/haiku/commit/?id=47102c074278637c3b33935b451d53f7ad176658
(I can't tell from a quick look) Personally I think this is a blocker for R1, because ArtPaint is an important Haiku app.

Selected area is black instead of outlined transparent

I've attached 3 window captures. The first is just the settings window of the the Selection Tool I used, the second shows the original image (no promotional intent! (;-)), the last shows the result of making a selection. (I notice that the outline dashes don't quite align with the area. Not sure of the significance, but I did use as small an image as I could find quickly, siv it may not be significant in normal use.)
