Description
For files created in another platform or non-native applications (e.g. LibreOffice), Haiku does not automatically recognise the file type immediately unless they are opened or identified. This is counter-productive, since it requires additional steps to be able to work with these files, especially when trying to open with different applications.
Apparently, this is the behaviour of BeOS, and from some cases it is desirable, since it does not modify the files, and leaves them as is. Maybe an option can be provided to run a background thread to correctly identify files.
Opinions welcome.
