Description
Tried booting on a 7290 and although the icons come up it gets to the last one and just hangs.

That didn't help. It's not even lighting the first icon, so I probably misremembered that part.
I suspect there's no definition to test for the presence of this processor line, but a quick scan of the code base yesterday failed to find the right file.

Can you try using the EFI loader, if you are not already, and see if it makes any difference?

I would have been super surprised if we booted on that processor, it was pretty funky (but cool!). I would imagine disabling SMP would have gotten you a little farther in the boot-up process.
It can be graphics driver problem. Can you try safe video mode option in boot loader?
