#16995 new bug

HaikuDepot crashes reproducable on start

Reported by: tojoko Owned by: apl-haiku
Priority: normal Milestone: R1
Component: Applications/HaikuDepot Version: R1/Development
Keywords: Cc:
Blocked By: Blocking:
Platform: All

Description (last modified by diver)

to reproduce crash:

Shortly after startup and when system is almost fully loaded, go directly to -> Applications Menu -> HaikuDepot, search for otter browser and try to launch.

It seems to me, error can be avoided by giving the dust some time to settle after startup and bevor launching any additional programs. So i did that in kind of a hurry - still i think it shouldn't 'cause a crash.

it almost always crashes on me, even when the system is alive and kicking. I can only use the console interface via pkgman reliably.

Latest crash with a recent nightly right after sync at step "populating package sizes" attached.

Are you able to confirm that you experience the application crashing when you use the search function prior to the application having completed initialization (the progress bar has become idle) as mentioned in the description of this ticket or do you experience frequent crashing after the application has launched and the initialization process has completed?

This time I did not use the search function but waited until the application was fully initialized and it crashed all by itself on the last step ("populating package sizes").

Are you able to;

  • attach the relevant diagnostic logs [1]
  • indicate which version of Haiku you are using (eg; R1B5 or nightly + hrev)

Assuming nightlys, if you have time, can you please install the following series of builds and identify the point where it breaks for you;
