Hi! Could you try hrev55159 or later to see if you have a working screen by any chance? I've included panelfitter programming and changed the internal panel programming. DDC still does not work for you I think, but the situation -might- have changed..

I try it with Haiku hrev55164, but is the same. i attacht the new syslog here. What is DDC?

Hi again :-) DDC stands for display data channel. This is a secondary comms channel between your monitor and computer via which (for instance) the monitor's properties are transferred. Among which the native resolution and max refreshrates (indirectly). So this is a rather important piece of the setmode puzzle you can imagine.
Anyhow: please now try hrev55168 or higher since I have updated the driver once again. Amongst others for your more 'modern' picture connection (later generation 7 chipsets have this as first ones). The driver now accepts no DDC data which should mean you can now have a picture. Since (if it's the only connected screen) Haiku does not know which max resolution it can display lets hope it picks a nice default that's rather common, or you already set a mode which you know should work on your screen.
Please tell me if you have a picture, and if you can set other resolutions correctly. This resolution thing I guess will still be a problem at least, because you have two screens (internal laptop one).
Next up will be a fix to get both running more independant from each other. IF that succeeds, (almost) everyone should have the option to use two screens simultaneously (common mode, clone only for now).
Also please post a syslog, and maybe a picture :-)
Thanks!

Ok thank you!
I am afraid I'll have to pause this ticket for now (unless someone else could pick it up of course): the DDI interface is one I cannot test myself yet as I have no such system at my disposal. (late gen7/gen8 systems).
When looking at datasheets from Intel I am having trouble locating enough info from that and also I see much differences compared to the older systems. It's a bit as I suggested in the forum (I think) earlier: it's a hard job creating a gfx driver that supports all these variations..

Hello, Could you please test hrev55189 or later for me?
There's a (slim) change that you might have a picture now.. Please upload a syslog again. This should at least rule out 'wrong pipe' adressing issues for me (one less thing to worry about later on)
Thank you!

I have the same black screen.
Testest with Haiku 55187 and your driver from the zip file.

Hi again, Can you please confirm you only have the internal panel connected, so no external additional monitor?
It looks BTW like the 'link detection' bit on DisplayPort A connection is shut-off by the driver (at first a link is detected, and later on it is gone).
I saw this also with another user where both DDI and Displayport connection was detected. I find this also strange: if one screen (internal panel) is connected that should have been just -one- detected monitor, not -two-.
I'll update the driver again for a test with link-detection shut off 'protection' (by buffering info in the driver about what it first finds at startup: which is currently not done that way).
So please confirm that you just have the internal panel connected currently, and also with the tests before where you uploaded syslogs from here?
Thank you!

Hi rudolfc,
i have only the internal sceen connected. Nothing more. It is a laptop from MSI. I attach the other hardfile info for you. Perhaps it helps. It is possible to link to all display connection in the driver. Perhaps is one working.

Hi again,
Could you please test: http://rudolfs-place.nl/Haiku/Downloads/Intel_extreme_drv_v6_hrev55200.zip
I blocked (for your system type) 'old' DP-port scanning: so now it only scans DDI as it should be for you.
Do you get a/some picture now? Please upload a syslog again as well..
Thank you!

Hi,
i change the driver to the new one. But is the same. The Laptop is crazy. I add some picture. Picture with 20210628_111530 shows booting and after the last icon i get a blank black screen, see picture 20210628_111532. I see that anything change the screen. A little flick/flack was there, but after then is black. I add also 5 syslog file from windows 7. I hope use the informationen for the driver.

So it's HD4600, Haswell, ID 0x0416, from that windows file. I expect setmode isn't working yet in the driver, you card is newer than the newest one I have to test with currently, unfortunately.
In the meantime there were more fixes to git, so your best bet is just a recent nightly. Always interesting to hear if that still did not change anything for you.. or if it did. Probably not, but I always like to rule out things. Sorry it takes long all in all..

Hi, after update to hrev55608 my graphics cards works.
Thank you, one issue is open. HDMI out isn't working. I see in the prefs the other Screen, but no output on the screen. I will test HDMI again on the weekend with another screen.
I will test it with VGA output also.
regards lorglas

Hi lorglas, since it now works, can you upload a fresh syslog with a boot with the driver in it? I'd like to see what the driver does all in all. Thank you for the update!

HDMI out isn't. The rest is working. See above
Thank you. The edit/DDC channel does not work, but it seems the driver does detect the presence of a monitor.
I'll have a look if I can find the problem next week. See below line from the log:
intel_extreme: Digital Display Interface A: no DDC register found
