I attached a alsa-info output from a sound working Debian Buster install on my laptop. I hope it will be useful for improving hda driver.

Same here on my Thinkpad T420 (Intel Series 6 HD-Audio)
Neither speakers nor headphones work.
Currently running hrev55246.

Hi there,
I just installed hrev56335 and it seems that sound is working fine now, both from a restart and a cold boot.

Sorry for the late update.
I found a bug on my T420!
The audiodriver defaults to 192kHz output frequency, but the chip only produces sound with 44.1 and 48kHz.
Seems like longer samples are only played without stuttering at 44,1kHz.
I currently run hrev56595.
