Reported by: FuRuYa7 Owned by: apl-haiku
Priority: normal Milestone: Unscheduled
Component: Applications/HaikuDepot Version: R1/beta3
Keywords: Cc:
Blocked By: Blocking:
Platform: All

Description

The language used is "Japanese". The input method uses "mozc".

In HaikuDepot, on the screen to enter the "evaluation" of the application, I can enter English in the "Comment" input field, but I cannot enter the language "Japanese".

In the Japanese input conversion window, select conversion candidates and press the Enter key to confirm.

The Japanese is not reflected in the "Comment" input field. A line break has been entered.

I'm not able to type Japanese and am having a bit of trouble understanding the description. Is it possible to write down steps to reproduce the problem for somebody who is not normally using the Japanese input method or is this a platform-wide issue?

First you need to install mozc (it is available in haikudepot but currently not installed by default).

Then, there should be a keyboard icon in Deskbar, from which you can switch between "romanji" (your uusal latin alphabet) and "mozc2" (japanese input)

When you switch to mozc, all keyboard input results in a popup window where characters are combined. Pressing enter or space validates a word and moves to the next one. When there are multiple possible completions for a word, there is also a popup menu to select which one you want. You can navigate it with up/down arrows.
