Good morning !

First I would like to inform you Haiku detect may fail on Inspiron 9100 as in the Windows the actual available Wifi Card is an Intel Wireless 1350 amd only the wired net chip is Broadcom 100BaseT.

Very confusing as meanwhile on the net when I wanted to provide a picture and specs about this wifi card, I only found https://www.alibaba.com/product-detail/Wireless-Adapter-Card-for-BroadCom-Dell_60812659227.html where it is also Broadcom.

Anyway ...

I would do so as you requested. Actually I'm at my parents, and this way I have no the affected computer with me. I travel back today evening. Next day or in the night I can boot that machine to gain the syslog.

Regarding to this -- I have 3 questios :

Q1: Do you need the syslog from the Haiku live boot partition ?

--------------------------------------------------------------

I have to inform yuu : the same 32bit install partition was used to boot Haiku 32bit in a DELL Precision 6700M workstation grade laptop. It was successfully reached the desktop as well, the Intel Wifi was much newer so automatically detected and configured however also not connected successfully to my mobilerouter. So maybe the syslog on live partition belongs to this boot up. If there is more versions I can arch them together the provide all.

Q2: Do you need the syslog from the installed Haiku partition ?

------------------------------------------------------------

It was installed to the same SD card, as Rufus created a raw partition from remaining 116 GB after the installer live 600-700 MB partition. I made a successful Haiku install there,

however in case wifi it resulted in the same error.

Q3 : Do you need the syslog(s) from both partition ?

------------------------------------------------

I did an attempt last night with a Fujitsu Amilo 720 laptop to boot the affected SD card, and copy the all syslogs to a fat32 or NTFS flash or hard drive, but I failed to get Multiboot Menu of this computer as just appeared " Entering Multiboot Option Menu..." but nothing happened to 10-15 mins, so I gave up and interrupted, but maybe it did something with the installer card.

I tried to get into BIOS on this given Fujitsu laptop, but previous owner had not know the password (as password protected ) and I finally got a Serial and message to request master password from the service center (I assume Fujitsu) and I will do so.

But this way you have to wait until this night or next day I can get to the affected Dell machine and boot it to copy the files.

Unfortunately there is no BeFS.IFS to install into windows, and reach the flash disk's content.

I have no Linux installer If I remember well. I check out my old flash stuff of old way back times here and now for a Linux live ... but possibly I would fail.

Anyway, please confirm which syslog(s) I should provide based on my questions and reports above !

Thanks in advance for your answer and patience,

Sorry for the delay.

Requested syslogs and how they were prepared and some useful command issued in terminal. Those are in a separated text file - also were attached. Please check it - and give advice to be able resolve internet connection in this Legacy Haiku install on DELL _Inspiron 9100 laptop computer.

Ahoy,

On Haiku 32 bit R1 Beta3 I could finally install half manually the necessary Broadcom firmware using the Haiku Workshop : Wireless Networking manual page >>>-------> https://www.haiku-os.org/docs/userguide/en/workshop-wlan.html

1) I could download the necessary broadcom firmware manually from a site. 2) I downloaded the fwcutter package for 32 and 64 bit as well - I got the full path in the forum thread I wrote about this problem I had. Copied onto 32 bit Haiku R1B3 install's Desktop and installed the 32bit version of this Broadcom driver extractor utility. 3) On Windows XP I executed the batch file and the resulted ZIP file of firmwares was extracted in /boot. It created the necessary directories, however the firmwares were missing from expected directories (both Broadcom and Marvel). I copied the separately downloaded Broadcom firmware and as fwcutter was installed earlier separately I had run the firmware installer script. It should have skipped the download part - those failed , of course - but finally the script finished with some expected fails due to download the firmwares, but placed broadcom stuff so finally I could select My WIFI connection after reboot.

Hardly but finally accepted the password, and got network status 'Kapcsolódva' that means 'Connected'.

Now THERE IS A NEW ISSUE : always drops connection as the network would be used actively - I mean

--> as opens an URL in Webpositive --> or launch a refresh of packages

I let you decide to close this ticket or not. Although I had not seen anyone checked meanwhile or asked for updating or would have checked my logs I added to the ticket.

Anyway, thanks in advance -

Kind regards,

1/ Compressed logs can't be seen in trac, this makes commenting more difficult.

2/ You could try FreeBSD to check that the FreeBSD driver works as expected there on your hardware.
