Black screen when using radeon_hd driver

Hi, I have an old HP Sleekbook 14, integrated AMD 7500 graphics (it's an AMD A6 APU) (UEFI booting BTW). After the "starting icons" are all loaded, when the desktop should appear, I get a white screen for a second, followed inmediately by a black screen, and it stays there.

If I use the failsafe video driver it works as expected, so I made that change permanent for the moment so I can use the system.

I'm on hrev56160. I'm attaching the syslog, the relevant section seems to be

I have a similar problem (including loss of HDMI audio device) on different hardware.

Motherboard: ASUS M3N-H/HDMI - internal GPU, HD Audio and Ethernet disabled in BIOS.
GPU: ASUS R7 240 2GB DDR5

Same motherboard and configuration but with nVidia GT1030 GPU worked OK.
VESA driver works OK.
