Description

Good day,

An HP laptop, presumably HP 250 G5, with Wireless hardware RTL8723BE.

  • Using Haiku hrev56177 64bit [nightly]-fresh install
  • Network GUI does not show wireless availability
  • listdev shows that wireless hardware is present and is an RTL8723BE PCIe wireless network adapter

As Network GUI shows no wireless network hardware available therefore system is unable to connect to any wireless networks.

Is this related to other Realtek Wireless family of network adapters?

Regards, RR

I would not expect driver support for this device anytime soon unfortunately.

Good day @waddlesplash,

Thanks anyway. This laptop is a recycle device, was going to be thrown in the trash so I got it and I'm using it for a hardware project.

I modified the wifi, removed the realtek and added a "compatible" intel card. Compatible with the laptop hardware, which now is seen in the network hardware, with the 7260 driver but without connections. And no ticket opened regarding that so will open one now.

At least is an improvement over the realtek!

Regards,
RR

Let's close this ticket as invalid then, as I don't expect the BSDs will add support for this Realtek card anytime soon.

The Intel card on the other hand is a relatively recent regression, if you use version hrev56167 or before it will probably work (though unreliably -- once the new driver is fixed it will work much better.)

Note: See TracTickets for help on using tickets.
