#17892 closed bug (fixed)

KDL (page fault) triggered by usb_serial (SerialConnect, QGIS)

Reported by: fatigatti Owned by: mmlr

Component: Drivers/USB Version: R1/beta3

Description

I've installed QGIS to give it a try. The splash screen shows and then I get a page fault, triggered by the usb_serial driver (apparently QGIS searchs for GPS devices on startup). I then tried opening SerialConnect and the same thing happens. I didn't have any usb_serial device plugged in at the moment (I don't have one, period).

Attached goes a picture of the KDL message.

Update: in the Printers preflet, using the Add button triggers the page fault as well.

This is on hrev56386, sorry I can't change that in the ticket now.

You have a Sierra Wireless EM7305 4G/LTE modem that shows up as a serial port. Until this is fixed you can disable the usb_serial driver using the package blocklist if you don't need it.

Wow, that was fast. Great news. A big thank you, as always.
