#18406 new bug
user input freezed under power saving and moderate load

Description
On an up-to-date install (haiku 64 bit on bare metal) I set the "Power Saving" feature, then launch two lame sessions on a very large file (expected encoding time is several hours). The cpu is an intel 2 core+HT, so two lame sessions are not so heavy load. Then, very soon (less than 5 minutes) the mouse pointer freezes and no key is responding - only the laptop power key is detected and then the OS shuts down.
(this is following the multitasking debate started here: https://discuss.haiku-os.org/t/multitasking-question/13420 )
Unfortunately, due to missing keyboard interaction I cannot take any screenshots, but feel free to ask for more details, as this scenario can be replicated any time I need.

Does the system freeze without powersaving mode? Can you reproduce it on any other machines, or in a VM?

Does the system freeze without powersaving mode?
No it doesn't.
Can you reproduce it on any other machines, or in a VM?
The same partition booted into virtualbox does not freeze easily. After several boots, it happened only once when the mouse pointer freezed just after setting PowerSaving mode (still no lame running) and no application had focus; then I discovered the keys were still working, even though couldn't switch to any application (terminal/activitymonitor/others) because ALT+TAB combo were captured by my host OS. Nevertheless, sending CTRL+ALT+DEL made Team Monitor appear (it had focus) and I managed to shut down the OS.

serial output captured during the only freeze into VM

Nothing of interest in this syslog. I guess the freeze in the VM must be of a different kind, then, vs. whatever happens on real hardware.
Can you enter KDL via
Alt+SysRq+D
?
