not sure this is a bug and if it is a bug if the bug should be in haikuports or here but creating an issue here for starters. i have noticed this occurring on nightlies and have been able to get the reproduce steps to the following (last checked on hrev57122):
steps to reproduce:
> touch a.txt b.txt > diff --strip-trailing-cr a.txt b.txt

It looks like no Haiku code is directly involved (the crashing function, rawmemchr, is not written by Haiku). So I think this should be reported at github.com/haikuports/haikuports instead of here.
